煮好多嘢、洗碗碟機沖涼、唔會唔見筆 Many Cooking Ideas, Dishwasher Cleaning, Pencil Holder

這次的內容包括許多煮食意念,計有冬菇滑雞粥、薑蓉配沙律、梳乎厘、用英國材料做中湯,以及善用麵碎來做湯。此外,我也分享如何在筆記簿上附上筆套,以及怎樣清潔洗碗碟機。

1. 冬菇滑雞粥 Shiitake Mushroom and Chicken Congee

吃剩了半隻白切雞,用來做冬菇滑雞粥。做法:撕下雞肉備用,雞骨用來熬湯,隔渣、隔油後,用這個雞湯來煲粥,加入薑絲和冬菇一起煲,臨吃時才把之前撕下的雞肉放入粥裏滾一滾,便可保持雞肉嫩滑。

The other day, I made Poached Chicken and ended up with half of it left over. I decided to put it to good use by making a delicious Shiltake Mushroom and Chicken Congee. First off, I separated the chicken meat and saved it for later. Then I used the chicken bones to make a broth, and strained out impurities and excess oil. The flavourful broth was used to make the congree, where I added in shredded ginger and shiltake mushrooms. Finally I put back the chicken meat to the mix and brought it to boil. I only put in the chicken meat just before serving so that it maintained its tenderness.

2. 薑蓉配沙律 Ginger Scallion Salad Dressing

至於吃白切雞剩下的半碟薑蓉,用來撈了這個沙律:灼熟豆角、粟米心、椰菜花後,用薑蓉、青醬油、橄欖油混成沙律醬,撈入蔬菜中,再灑上松子,即成為既美味又有營養的沙律。這次我採用了一種青綠色的Romanesco Cauliflower,第一次吃,很可口!這個沙律配上麵包就是美味的一頓午餐。

With the leftover Ginger Scallion Sauce from the Poached Chicken, I whipped up a tasty salad dressing. I blanched some fine beans, baby corns and cauliflower. I combined the Ginger Scallion Sauce with pesto and olive oil, and tossed the veggies in this dressing. To finish, I sprinkled a handful of pine nuts on top. Served with some bread, this salad makes for a satisfying and nutritious lunch. This time, I decided to experiment with Romanesco Cauliflower, a variety I hadn’t tried before. It truly elevated the overall taste of the salad.

3. 用麵碎做湯 Making Soup with Noodles Pieces

買麵條總有些碎了的部份,把這些碎濕濕的麵條儲起來,放蔬菜湯吃,又是另一頓美味午餐!

When purchasing noodles, you often end up with some broken pieces. Instead of discarding them, I saved them up and add them to a vegetable broth. This creates another delightful lunch option!

4. 梳乎厘 Souffle

吃老公下廚,弄白汁雞皇飯和薯仔沙律,我想弄個甜品配合。由於老公那兩道菜很有老牌香港餐廳「皇后飯店」的風味,我便循這個戲碼進發,做了梳乎厘。可惜因是臨時決定,來不及買梳乎厘專用的ramekins,只能用錫紙杯代替。

It was my husband turn to cook. He decided to make Chicken a la King with Rice, and Potato Salad. I wanted to make a dessert that would complement his dishes. Since he was embracing the style of cuisine from a traditional restaurant in Hong Kong – the Queen’s Café – I decided to align with this theme and opted to make Souffle. Due to the hasty decision, I did not have the ramekins typically used for Souffle. I used tin foil cups instead.

5. 用英國材料做中湯 Making Chinese Soups Using UK Ingredients

中湯材料不一定要去亞洲超市買,不少湯羹都可以用本地材料做得到,這裏介紹十款

Don’t feel limited to sourcing ingredients for Chinese soups solely from Asian supermarkets. You can make many Hong Kong style soups using locally available ingredients. Let me introduce ten ideas.

6. 筆套 Pencil Holder

我用這本筆記簿來記錄植物的生長情況,以好好學習耕種。為了不用四處找筆,我用這個筆套把鉛筆插在薄皮,一有東西要記下就立即有筆用!

I use this notebook to document the progress of gardening, in order to enhance my knowledge and skills. To ensure I can easily grab a pencil whenever I need to jot something down, I’ve attached a pen holder to the notebook.

7. 清潔洗碗碟機 Cleaning Dishwasher

洗碗碟機用了一輪後,底部這個隔積聚了食物碎屑,會減弱清潔效能,餐具洗完後仍有點油膩。解決方法很簡單,只須把這個隔拆出來清洗,裝回去,再在洗碗碟機放杯白醋,開啟半小時模式把洗碗碟機清洗一次,清潔效能就恢復。

Every now and then, I would notice the build up of food residues in the compartment at the bottom of the dishwasher. This impeded the dishwasher’s cleaning efficacy and left the dishes with a slight greasiness even after they had been washed. The issue was resolved by taking out this compartment and cleaning it thoroughly. Then I placed a mug of white vinegar in the dishwasher and ran a half-hour cycle to clean the unit. This process rejuvenates the dishwasher’s cleaning efficiency, ensuring your dishes come out spotless.
