Decoupaging a Wooden Box, a Planter and Light Switch Plates
Decoupaging is one of my favourite skills for making decorative items. It is a rather simple skill – sticking paper napkins onto the objects I’d like to decorate. Some say you need to use a specific glue called Mod Podge; I simply use white glue thinned with water. I don’t think the outcomes are any different from using Mod Podge.
I once came across the idea of decoupaging light switch plates from someone’s blog. Since then, I had tried looking for paper napkins with a pattern resembling Portuguese tiles. I finally found them. After the decoupage decoration, the light switch plates took on the appearance of tiles!
Another project decorating a wooden box using a cat pattern napkin that my sister gave me as a gift.
This project used newspaper instead of paper napkins. These ads on Apple Daily recorded the voices of Hong Kong people in 2019. I used them to decorate a tin can which I turned into a planter. Now that Apple Daily has been closed down, these ads have become historical artefacts. To avoid ruining them, I have replaced the water plants with artificial ones in this planter.
